Although it is of course much easier to buy an impersonal gift from a large chain that delivers everything to your door "free of charge", it is nicer to buy gifts with heart and soul from local makers, artists and craftsmen and small entrepreneurs.
It may take a little more effort, because it's just clicking through from the digital wish list. But admit it, if you've been able to choose something so personal, you'll give it with much more pleasure!
This list is a work in progress, because I could go on forever listing makers and local entrepreneurs that I met at markets over the years. But here is the list so far, so you can already browse around! Do you need a tip for something local? Send me a message, maybe I know the best local maker for you!
